Would you like some BumbleRose? Bumblestripe x Rosepetal to be precise, and before you ask, no I haven't been drinking and I am perfectly sane.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't really dig the idea that Bumble and Dove automatically became mates after TLH, only to break up soon after. Dovewing is annoying and she's kind of a wimp, but even she isn't that rash or stupid to get into something serious without being sure of herself. True Squirrelflight did the same, and we know what resulted from that. But it sounds like Squirrelflight believed that she may have some feelings for Ashfur, but in the end her love for Bramblestar was just too much for her deny.
Ever since she 'broke up' with Tigerheart, Dovewing has been nothing but a muddle mess and pressure from her mom sure isn't helping. If anything, she probably said yes to Bumblestripe to only make her mom shut up about it.
I like to think that Dovewing actually matured after the books (and grew a damn backbone), and that she would take some time in order to know what she really wants in life. Does she want to keep pining for a tom that she can't have? Or should she go for the cat within her own Clan? Does she even want a mate or kits? She needs these priorities straight before she can think of mates and kits.
Now for Bumble x Rose, I think this would be a mutual mating (like Spiderleg x Whitewing). It is more so that Rosepetal can be a mother and have kits then being focused on actual love. I'm sure Rose might care for Bumble, but I picture her being a lot like her father...she can do the deed, but she rather have no strings attached. During this time, Dovewing can focus on her own choices with no pressure.
